A few weeks ago, I wrote an article for SPTechWeb, where I give a high level overview of several different ways to display content from multiple document libraries.  Here’s the link to my article:

Some of the methods I go over in the article are the Relevant Documents web part, the content query web part, the What’s New web part, merged sources in the data view web part, content rollup in the data view web part, and a customized search results web part.

A nice article which is simple to read, and is very useful.  Laura is great at breaking down a topic and explaining that topic is simple terms.  Anyone who wants to know about SharePoint should read Laura's articles.
